Online discipleship

The Greek word 'disciple' simply means learner.

You can learn about the Christian faith by coming to Church, reading the Bible and joining small study groups. But you can also learn a lot about the Christian faith online too.

First, you can subscribe to the Vicar's posts by subscribing here When you subscribe you will receive a post by email once a week which will help you to reflect on your faith.

Secondly, there are lots of Apps you can use and Podcasts you can listen to. Here are some recommended by a member of our congregation, Dan Blackwell:

The Bible App - I use this every day! It’s a great, free Bible app. Easy interface. You can read in many versions. You can search for various plans/devotionals to help you with daily reading habits and particular topics.

UCB Player - a digital radio station (UCB1 and UCB2). It’s a great DAB radio station in terms of variety of music, from traditional to modern styles, with devotionals and talks every day. They also always talk about the news and pray and discuss relevant topics from a Christian perspective. Get it on the App Store, online and on digital radio.

Reasonable Faith - William Lane Craig is a famous Christian theologian who speaks on a variety of topics - especially between atheists and theists - in this podcast. Episodes are a little deep but very interesting and a good source for defending the faith.

Unbelievable? - Justin Brierly of Premier Christian Radio invites atheists, theists, agnostics to discuss relevant topics and debate.

Set Apart Girl - voice of Leslie Ludy, this is a really strong podcast for Christian women, featuring short (around 10 to 20 mins) talks to encourage and strengthen.

Gas Street - St.Luke’s Gas Street is a church in Birmingham, where Tim & Rachel Hughes are leaders. They offer good sermons on a weekly basis.

Rooted - Pippa Gumbel and Beth Redman run a podcast for Christian women. Relevant topics.

Ask Eric - Eric Ludy is the husband of Leslie (Set Apart Girl) I like to listen to this chap sometimes. He offers guidance on a lot of topics. Short 5 - 10minute talks.

(He also does some deeper 1 hour Sunday talks from his Mission Society under ‘Eric Ludy Sermon Podcast that are often very challenging and make you uncomfortable - in a good way!)

Thanks Dan!
